Memory Lane & Possum Long House

Since 1964, our club has sponsored an ongoing project honoring the memory of its members by planting living memorials in the form of trees, shrubs and various specimens of plant life.

This Arboretum is located in the Possum Long Nature Center, Hibiscus Street, on property owned by the Martin County Audubon Society. Through mutual agreement with the Audubon Society and our club, this is the permanent location of Memory Lane. The paths lead through flowering trees, shrubs and ferns and the area has been proclaimed a Butterfly Sanctuary. Special emphasis has been given to native plants. This memorial is nurtured and cared for by members of the Garden Club. Through the contribution of families and friends, a special memorial garden has been planted. Names of deceased members are inscribed each year on the permanent plaque displayed at Possum Long House.
