In preparation for the upcoming Flower Show & Expo to be held at Halpatiokee Park March 31-April 1, 2007, the members of Hibiscus Circle brought designs and horticulture to their monthly meeting to be critiqued.
Pictured here are Accredited Judge Joan Graff and our club's horticulturalist Jean Foley who discussed the "do's and don'ts" for the Flower Show exhibits.
In preparation for the Christmas project to be completed by the second grade Gator Gardeners at Bessey Creek Elementary School in Palm City, Hibiscus Circle holds a workshop each year at their November meeting. Members prepare approximately 120 pinecone "trees" to be decorated with colored popcorn by the students as a Christmas gift to take home to their families.
The Gator Gardener Program was founded many years ago by Garden Club of Stuart member Joan Graff, who continues to chair this program. The second graders meet twice per month during the school year to learn about gardening and recycling, as well as work in the butterfly garden.
Pictured are Hibiscus Circle members Lillian Miller and Bobbie Spilman gluing the pinecones to a stand.
